He laughed when Invidia mentioned she already beat her previous numbers. "Impressive. You still recall the ones we did together?"
there weren't that many, but most of them involved quite complex strategies and games. Sometimes they competed against each-other too. It was rather fun to challenge her from time to time and he did have quite a few ideas for the new term too. "Perhaps we should consider a new project soon."
he obviously had just the right one in mind."You don't need a reason, but you usually have one."
whether it was the most insignificant detail, it did not really matter. James knew very well that there was almost always a reason to pick x or y as a victim, rather than anyone else. He, however, did not know Invidia well enough to be able to predict her pattern of choosing victims. Could she tell what was his? His eyebrows raised when she announced him it was because of staring. "Yeah, I guess having someone stare at you is never nice."
he shrugged his shoulders, then stared at Invidia on purpose, smiling full of confidence.
He nodded when she asked whether he did anything useful. "Found a spell against dementors that might prove useful in the future."
they both knew James still planned to break into Azkaban once he learned enough to be able to release his parents. "I was trying to master it, but my Patronus is still very unstable..."
it was quite stupid he had to focus so much and think of positive things. It was even more difficult to do that around actual Dementors. Was the inventor of the spell aware how one would feel if they were getting nearby those creatures? They could take the soul of others through something as disgusting as a kiss. Having to think about happy memories or even plans was quite tricky. He's never heard his uncle or family ever mentioning that spell and James doubted they had a patronus at all. It also seemed very difficult for him to create one. "Learning aside, I did not do much to keep up with the targets. I might enjoy all of this more if there's something at stake."
it was obvious he meant a challenge or a game would be much more fun than him trying to make a random person's life miserable. James looked at her, curious whether Invidia agreed. INVIDIA MATRAXIA
